Bhagwantrao Memorial Shikshan Sanstha, Aheri is well-known and prestigious institution in the southeast part of Gadchiroli District of Maharashtra State. The place geographically under developed covered with thick forest and majority of population belongs to Tribals. The institution is set up in the remote area away from mainstream like social, political as well economical. Where, it faces the issues like Unemployment, Illiteracy, Poverty, Naxal affected and Mal-nutrition. The whole social life has been affected by old traditions, myth and superstitions were people are more sceptic conservative in their outlook. The chief occupation of this area is farming which run not more than six months. In off-season people do their traditional jobs like fishing, hunting and brewing wine.
In such diverse situation of eastern part of Vidarbha region, Gadchiroli district is formed in 1982. The Bhagwantrao Memorial Shikshan Sanstha emerged out in 1991 at Aheri, one of the tribal Taluka of Gadchiroli District. The establishment of this institution was done by Cabinet Minister (MS) & MLA (Aheri Vidhansabha) Hon. Dharmaraobaba Atram, a multifaceted personality belongs to “Aheri Rajwada”.
In 1992, higher education was only dream for students of this area. People were unaware about importance of education and its benefits. Hon. Dharmaraobaba Atram realized this grim fact of this area with his perceptive view. His ambitious mind made him restless unless the institution came into existence.
The institution progressed gradually within the span of few years period. Institution started numerous Middle Schools, High Schools, Residential Schools, Junior Colleges, Senior College, Sainiki School, College of Education and other social services in surrounding part of its centre. The institution progressed, gain special laurels and became one of the prominent educational institution of Gadchiroli district (M.S.), India. For its remarkable progress and development in such a remote area, institution was awarded with the “Adiwasi Seva Puraskar” by Department of Tribal Development of Maharashtra State on 23rd Feb. 2004.
As the foundation stone laid by Hon. Dharmaraobaba Atram in 1992 soon its branches sprang out all over Gadchiroli district. In present scenario, institution has established following various branches and run regularly.

Bhagwantrao Arts Science College, Etapalli is the only one centre for higher education in Etapalli Taluka.
It is one of the great achievements of institution. The establishment of Senior College at Etapalli
is a milestone in the progress of institution. Today college has its own building and large playground,
separate classrooms, well equipped laboratories and library. Since the opening of College, the student's
strength has been growing day by day. In the view of current scenario, considering the scientific and technical attitude,
to overcome the mentioned problem, the Science faculty was started in the year 2005-06.
As a result of growing strength, Arts faculty started the second section. The NAAC Team Re-accredited the College with ‘Grade B’ in the Year 2017-18.
